Catalog Description: American Tallcase Clock, circa 1840 in a solid cherry case. The painted dial features a typical Pennsylvanian motif of painted flowers, and a center sweep calendar hand. The 8'3" height is accentuated by the slender waist and the broken arch top. The case is signed inside the door by A.B. Gildersleeve, Maker. The eight-day movement strikes the hour on a large bell.
