Catalog Description:

C.1840, French Terrestrial Globe Clock. This is an interesting clock, with a conventional time dial on the front of the case, and with a small globe above (around 3 inches) that advances hourly. There is a lever on the front of the movement, pushed by a pin on the cannon pinion that moves the globe 15()() with each rotation of the minute hand. A ratchet wheel with 24 notches is spring loaded to keep the globe in position. Note the globe has damage and needs some restoration, and the silk suspension, bell-strike movement needs cleaning for reliable operation. Also with brass plaque signed Roze` Horologere Mecaniciene, that also hides the winding holes and tilts for winding. See identical clock in Joseph Meraux collection; Sothebys, June 28, 1993, lot 482 ($1035). An unusual clock with lots of potential. Height 20 inches Reserve $1200
