Catalog Description:

C.1850, French, Lyre form Pendule, the movement within the pendulum, and oscillating back and forth with each tick. The outer lyre case is an uncommon design, the top with an arch of waves and the base with a gilt griffin at each corner. Noteworthy is the color scheme: the pillars, base and clock bezel in dark bronze and the rest with original bright yellow gilding. The movement/pendulum feature a pinwheel escapement and a 9-rod gridiron, the whole suspended from a substantial knife edge, the suspension hiding behind the ormolu spray at top. Strikes on a bell. Height 23'
