France Wall

Catalog Description:

C.1890, French, Carved Oak Cartel clock, 8-day time and strike on a gong. The hand carved frame is well carved with cascading blossoms down each side, stained a dark English oak. The 8" wooden dial has 12 porcelain signet numerals (note unusual shape), all excellent. The clock must have hung on a porch for some time, as the canon pinion has corroded to the hour pipe with the results that the hands will not turn. The movement appears to be sound otherwise, strike side turns freely, but you will have to remove the dial and drift apart the 2 wheels prior to operation. The minute hand was soldered once (OK), and the clock is otherwise complete and original. Very attractive carving. Height 24" Reserve $500
