Catalog Description:

C.1900, French, Mahogany and Gilt Brass Mystery Mantel timepiece. The 5 inch beveled glass dial with smooth bezel , raised on a fluted pillar; the rectangular plated movement with platform lever escapement, and driving the hands without apparent connection. Movement housed in the molded mahogany base, wound from the bottom. For a related clock, see Sotheby"s Meraux sale, June 28, 1993, lot 256. Note image has been darkened to show white numerals; bezel is bright gold and base is deep red mahogany. Runs. Height 14 '
