Catalog Description: C.1920, American, Large Glass Dial Mystery clock of unusual construction. The heavy plate glass dial is 15" in diameter, has gold leaf Roman numerals, and a fine steel pivot in its center. It is supported at the top of a heavy brass tube which is set into a large 4-leg spelter casting. The hour hand and minute hand are independent of each other, one designed to rotate once in 12 hours, the other once each hour, each riding on the center pivot. The end of each balanced hand contains a 30-hour watch movement, driving a counter weight so that gravity forces the hand around (special winder provided). Each movement has numbers 1 to 12 inside to assist in setting the time. No maker apparent. When running it provides a truly mystifying clock. Height 31" (80cm) Reserve $4500 |
