Antique German or Germany Shelf Novelty Clock Price Type: auction |
|
Catalog Description: Late 17th Century, Austrian or South German, hexagonal quarter striking, full repeating, table clock, with stationery barrels for the hour and quarter strike and with chain fusee/verge for the time. As you can imagine for a clock of this age, it has been restored a couple of times in its life. Just under half the leafy balance cock has been cut away; there are vacant holes that probably handled an alarm., and the hands and dial appear to be 19th century replacements. Still the clock runs robustly, and belts out the strike loudly on two bells. Width 5.5'. Height 3.5' |
