Catalog Description:

Chariot clock by Thomas Weeks Chariot clock by Thomas Weeks of Titchbourne St., London - signed "Semaine" on the dial ("Weeks" in French), - signed "Weeks's Tichborne St." on false dial at rear, with typical Weeks' single fusee pendulum movement. This model is also in the Royal clock collection - ref page 206 "Royal Clocks" by Cedric Jagger, except the royal clock has a replacement movement with a pendulum which is too long for the clock, courtesy of Charles Frodsham, one of the "great" royal clockmakers for the queen at that time! In order to achieve this he used the false dial and reversed the whole clock - and then put wooden feet onto the original claw feet to elevate the clock for his overlength pendulum! Why settle for bodge-ups? Buy the original model - the way it was intended.
