Catalog Description: C.1910, English, Pearson, Page and Co., Birmingham, Clepsydra, wall clock or water clock. Right after the turn of the 20th Century, the English reproduced a series of these water clocks, this one in a closed case with a hammered brass eagle on the door. The lower plaque is engraved with name of fictitious maker, place and date: James Kilner, Bedefordiae, Anno Domini 1670. The case is of dark fumed oak, and the movement of brass and steel. The brass dial is deeply engraved with 24 hours (IUXII TWICE), and with a single hand. Height 28" |
