Antique Dutch or Holland Wall Clock Price Type: auction |

Catalog Description: C.1750, Dutch Stoelklok wall clock time and strike with alarm, in generally good and complete condition. There has been some damage to the lead decorations and one piece is in a plastic bag; other repairs are apparent, and minor bits missing. The movement to this clock was gone through around 10 years ago and it seems to run robustly, striking and alarming on a large iron bell. The pendulum is replaced but of the proper configuration. This case has 'ears' on either side instead of mermaids, which in this case are lead mermaids flanking the dial. The side 'doors' were properly replaced when the movement was restored. A similar clock may be seen in Derek Robert's A Collector's Guide to Clocks, page 57. When you consider that these clocks are around 2 centuries old, they are a bargain in today's market. Height 26" |
