Holland Wall

Catalog Description:

C.1840, Dutch Staartklok wall clock, also called "Friesland" clocks because of their area of origin, and in the US have other common names such as "tail" clock or "hood" clock. This clock has had some restoration to the case: the side corbels are recent and the "tail" has been glued and screwed in place so that you must set it going by removing the hood; also the hood has a new wooden top and no current place to insert hood decorations which would have been appropriate. The 30 hour weight movement is similar in construction to the Stoelklok above, the painted arched dial with a harbor scene and windmill. The alarm is present (set by a small hand which points to a ring on the base of the hour hand). Although dusty, it is in running order. Height 47"
