Chinese bracket clock, c. 1860 These clocks were originally given as wedding gifts to wealthy western and Chinese brides in China during the middle 1800's. The highly carved case and matching swivel stand are inlaid with mother-of-pearl. 19 inches high with a 4 inch porcelain dial. Engraving in a floral design surrounds the dial. A double fusee movement with a crown wheel escapement and a sweep second hand. Thick heavy plates on the movement; retains its original fussee chains on both sides. Three pearl pieces are lacking on the door, but the rest of the case is complete - including the glass on the sides.Sold in unrestored condition without reserve
