Catalog Description: Large Wall Regulator Clock c. 1886 Dimensions:41 inches in height with a 12" dial. Maker/Mfgr./Author/Artist:The New Haven Clock Co., New Haven, Connecticut. Condition:Excellent, runs perfectly; professionally restored dial cover; new weight cords, clean movement; pendulum stick replaced; old, but not the original weight. Circa:CA 1886 Materials:Mahogany case wood; brass movement; brass weight. Description:The New Haven Clock Co. in New Haven, Connecticut produced an extensive line of shelf and wall clocks. Among their wall regulators, some were weight driven and others were spring powered. They offered an OFFICE No. 1 and an OFFICE No. 2. The difference between these models was that the number one had a center hung weight and no seconds dial and the No. 2 (this model) had a side-hanging weight and a seconds "bit" (dial),located under the numeral 12 on the dial. This large (41 inches tall), eight day clock runs perfectly and has had the old gut weight cord replaced with lifetime braided nylon. The weight cord runs upwards from the movement, through the top of the case-over a pulley and then across to another pulley before it passes down through the top to the weight pulley on the inside (left) of the case. The dial has been recovered professionally and the weight is old but not original to this clock. The movement is clean and the wood case in excellent original condition. |
