Catalog Description: C.1760, Samuel Buttonworth, Rochdale, English 8-day tall clock with square brass dial and calendar aperature above 6. The case of this clock is heavy oak, carved in country fashion, a geometric scrolly design, the hood with the admonition: "Lose No Time". Note the carving was normally done later to keep up with styles of the day. There are some loose glue blocks and the right side throat return is loose and needs gluing. The movement has been cleaned and re-cabled and is in running order. The 12" dial has cast cherub spandrels, and a matte center with foliate engraving. Height 87" |
