France Shelf Lyre

Catalog Description:

Early French imitation Lyre clock. 8 day, silk thread suspension, round movement, outside count wheel, strikes a brass bell half hours. 4 1/2 inch convex porcelain dial has only one small hairline, convex glass in a very ornate machined bezel. The brass dial surround was moved for some reason. I moved it back and the old holes lined up, meaning this surround is original to the clock. Original wood back cover. 23 inch rosewood veneered case with a lot of inlay work. Some nicks and scrapes but overall a very good early piece. This clock was made to imitate the expensive mystery Lyre clocks and was probably sold to us poor folks.

The Antique Clocks Price Guide database contains actual sales information about this piece and more than 20,000 other antique clocks. Most records tell you what it sold for at auction and where it was sold. Some records tell you the price that retail dealers are asking for this or similar clocks.
