Catalog Description:

L.F. & W.W. Carter, shelf calendar clock, ca 1862-1867. The "Lewis Perpetual Calendar" mechanism in this clock has an "E. Burwell, Bristol, CT" green label. The full backboard label is by "L.F. & W.W. Carter, Bristol, CT" This clock is 8 day and running, strikes a nickel bell. The case is 22 inches high, made of rosewood veneer, is overall good but has a few veneer chips top and base. The door locks are gone. This spring movement looks identical to the weight movement they used in their weight calendar clocks. This clock is pictured in Miller's "Calendar Clocks", page 65. The repair person liked their new drill so much they drilled new holes in the dial rather than fill the old ones. This is a very early shelf calendar with some restoration needed, and priced accordingly.
