Catalog Description:

Very Rare "Ribbon Wind" Vienna, by "Joseph Tekautz, Wien". He made clocks there from 1877 thru 1909. This is an 8 day, 3 weight, grand sonnerie striking movement, that is sometimes called the blind mans clock. Strikes 1,2,3,and 4 times on the quarters followed by the number of hours on each quarter. Excellent 2 piece porcelain dial, unusual hands, 3 matching brass weights, 2 of 3 brass pulleys are a match. Brass bob on a wood stick. Several rare features on this clock. Note the knob at lower right of the case. A long ribbon connects to a pulley at the top that turns the hands without opening the door. There are 3 ribbons on the left, inside the case, that descends thru the base, that you pull to wind the 3 weights. The movement is functioning properly and runs fine. 50 inch walnut case is also different from the normal Vienna case. 3 glasses, narrow plain case, carvings and unusual brass decoration on top. A most unusual and very nice old Vienna.
