Catalog Description:

Jeromes & Darrow column clock, ca 1825-1833. "Jeromes & Darrow, Bristol, Conn", ca 1825-1833. 30 hour wood movement, 2 weight, strikes iron bell. Period weights, pendulum, hands and dial. An ugly scrape across the top of the dial, otherwise almost perfect. Full backboard label, old mirrors, and 2 original glasses. Bottom glass is the show stopper of this clock, has only minor flakes. 31 inch mahogany veneer case, has never been cleaned. One veneer chip on the base. Full, marbleized columns at bottom, half columns at top, carved pieces in the middle. Gold capitals and bases on all 4 columns. Escutcheons are both missing, locks in place, no key. It has the original metal tin can roller caps on top of the case. Case called a gilded column, empire style with long pendulum. An identical clock, almost identical tablet, is shown in "Eli Terry and the Connecticut Shelf Clock", Second Edition, Revised, by Kenneth D. Roberts and Snowden Taylor, pages 183-200.
