Catalog Description:

Boardman & Wells column and splat clock, ca 1832-1837. "Boardman & Wells, Bristol, Conn", ca 1832-1837. Wells was married to Boardman's daughter. This 30 hour column and splat clock has a wood movement, coil gong. 90% of the large label intact, period weights, pendulum, hands, and a good old wood dial. The glasses are both replaced, top recent, bottom reversed painted glass has been in the door a long time. Half columns are dark, no stenciling on columns or splat, but are original. 30 inch mahogany veneer case is very good except for a 1 inch piece off the base. Reference- pages 234-239 in the book, "Eli Terry and the Connecticut Shelf Clock", Second Edition Revised, by Kenneth D. Roberts and Snowden Taylor.
