R and JB Terry

Catalog Description:

R. & J. Terry column and splat, ca 1835-1836. "R. & J. Terry, Bristol, Conn", ca 1835-1836. Ralph and John Burnham Terry's company was succeeded by "Terry and Andrews" in 1842. This triple decker clock with an 8 day, Ives type, strap brass movement, is almost identical to the clock pictured and described in, "The Contributions of Joseph Ives to Connecticut Clock Technology, 1810-1862", by Kenneth D. Roberts, pages 189-190. The 38 inch mahogany veneer case is in original, unrestored condition. Full columns and half columns with considerable gold and marbleized paint, still intact. Excellent Moberg glasses with a lot of gold and detail. Top glass retains the original putty. The seatboard and dial are crudely held with oversized screws. The dial is minus the lift out mirror, and was split and repaired satisfactorily. The feet and top are complete. The eagle appears to have all of the gold paint but needs cleaning. Both doors have ivory escutcheons and good key locks, weights are period, 3/4 of label intact. This clock is much better than I thought at first. Take care of the dial problems, one little piece of veneer repair, some cleaning, some "New Life", and you should have a $1000-$1500 clock.
