Seth Thomas

Catalog Description:

Seth Thomas stenciled half column and splat, ca. 1830 or some would call it a transition clock. This style started when the companies were changing clock production from the pillar and scroll clocks to the larger shelf clocks. The label in this case reads, "Patent Clocks, Invented by Eli Terry, Made & Sold at Plymouth, Connecticut, by Seth Thomas", ca 1830. It has a 30 hour wood movement and is very similar to the pillar and scroll movements. Mahogany veneer case is 29 1/2 inches high, excellent original stenciling, original glasses, crack in lower right corner, beautiful old wood dial, period weights, pendulum, and hands. Runs well. This is about as good as we get for originality and condition. Just 2 small pieces of veneer off on the sides, in the back. Ly-Seth Thomas, page 264.
