Catalog Description: Mixed lot: C.1880, American Walnut regulator case, now with a C.1850, French grand sonnerie, 3-weigHeight Morbier movement, signed Claude Aine, a Nancy. This is a great Victorian case, with a bit of Eastlake look to it, and retains original finish. The large iron bracket that holds the movement has been moved down about 6 inches to accommodate the large 3-train movement, the old holes left unfilled. The pendulum bob is distressed with small dents and stress cracks. The 3 weights are new German brass shells with chipped lead inside. The base of the case is missing rear stretcher and is flimsy so be careful when you set it up. Movement sounds quarters on 2 bells and the hours on a 3rd and repeats at will. Porcelain dial intact, with repairs at 4, 7 +8. This is a large case, 104" in height. $3,000-$4,000 |
