Drocourt

Catalog Description:

C.1895, French, Drocourt, for Henry Daniel Capt, Geneva: Grand sonnerie, day, date and alarm carriage clock. Charles Allix, in his list of Carriage Clock names, page 434 says "No evidence has been found that Capt sold any pendules de voyage other than best-class French work". This clock is no exception, being the finest gorge case, finely engraved and gilded [some wear to exterior gilding]. The clock is fully numbered in Capt's sequence, No.10886 [also with Drocourt trademark], retains original lever platform with gold balance screws. Has bottom lever with choices: Striking, Silent or Full striking, and with repeat button above the 12 reporting full hours and quarters. The porcelain dials and beveled glass are all perfect; top dial signed "Henry Capt, Geneve", about as good as it gets. Height 6.75" $5,000-$8,000
