C.1890, English, 8-day, 3-fusee, Whittington and Cambridge quarter chime bracket clock. This is a wonderful over-size movement of the finest quality, with brushed plates, striking on 8 tuned bells, chains intact. The mahogany case is beautiful with carving in the top arch, and nicely detailed side frets for sound, all in excellent original condition with a minor edge abrasion here and there. The engraved brass dial is excellent, with original gilding and original silvered chapter ring, subsidiary dials for slow-fast, chime-silent, and Whittington-Cambridge tune selection. The clock plays your choice on 8 bells and strikes the hours on a large gong; note you get 8 bells for each quarter hour, culminating in 32 notes and full tune on the hour. Height 22.50" $4,500-$5,500
