Catalog Description: C.1905, The Arthur Pequegnat Clock Co., Berlin, Ontario, Canada, 8-day regulator wall timepiece, in excellent original condition. Note similarities to the Seth Thomas No.2. The quarter sawn oak case retains original finish with nice patina. The painted dial is in very good condition with some minor wear to the numeral 4, and a little touch up on numeral 3. The movement looks like a Seth Thomas, but these clocks were 100 percent made in Canada. Arthur Pequegnat came from Switzerland in 1874 and opened a factory in Berlin to manufacture bicycles. He started making movement in 1904 and had cases made in the local furniture factories, but eventually setup his own factory to make cases. The name of the town changed to Kitchener in 1916. Arthur died in 1927, but the factory continued making clocks until 1941. A very uncommon clock, in unusually nice condition. Height 35.75" $1,200-$1,800 |
