Catalog Description: C.1908, Eureka Clock Co., London, England, Battery electric clock, serial No.8549, under dome. The Eureka was invented by Timothy Bernard Powers, an American engineer and patented by the Kutnow brothers in 1906. They were made between 1908 and 1914. This example is in pretty nice condition. The original porcelain dial has a little fading of the minute markers in the 6 to 9 quadrant [you have to look closely to see the difference, but we don't want disappointment]. This tall "skeleton" version is one of the more desirable models, as all of the workings and the robust rotation of the large balance wheel are fully visible. Height 14.50" $2,400-$2,800 |
