Seth Thomas Regulator No. 70

Catalog Description:

Seth Thomas "Regulator No.70", ca 1924. Made of quartered oak it is 55 1/2 inches high, 22 inches wide. Near perfect inside, it has an 8 day, time only, one weight movement, No. 68 with a beat adjuster, 60 beats per minute. The movement has jeweled pallets, polished cut steel pinions, polished keystone shaped plates, and is mounted on a large cast iron bracket. The movement is signed with the Seth Thomas logo, and the numbers "383" and "68" are inscribed. Pendulum, weight, beat scale, all very good. There is an original 13 inch white enameled dial that has not been touched. The outside of the case has some indications that it could have been manufactured for use as some kind of time keeping clock although there is no evidence that ever came about. On the outside of the case there are 4 small round holes on the left, at the bottom. There is no indication inside the case that anything was ever there. In fact two of the holes don't go thru the wood which would leave you to think it was made so that something could be attached on the outside. It is a super clock none the less and you have to stand on your head to even see the little holes. Based on recent sales this clock should fetch $3500 to $4000. Ly-Seth Thomas No.470.
