Catalog Description: German open well hanging clock by HAC, No. 911, c. 1900 This is a miniature walnut case only 30 inches high. Hamburg Amerikanische, was the maker, with crossed arrows trademark etched on the movement. A paper label on the case back, states only, "No. 911". Clock is ca 1900, or thereabout. The case has carved ripple type molding around the door and lower glass. It has 4 glasses, 2 in front, 2 on the sides. Turned finials, spindles, tapered base, black trim strategically placed on the outer edges of some moldings from top to bottom. It has a new heavy duty metal hanger on the back.Movement is 8 day, striking on a coil gong, and is running great. Porcelain dial ring has a brass inner dial. There are 3 brass button ornaments, brass pendulum, and a Minerva on the headpiece. I believe the clock to be primarily original. It was refinished to perfection and would look good hanging just as it is. I can't vouch for the originality of any of the finials or for that matter every piece of wood, but if repairs were made they were made by a true craftsman. |
