German open swing wall clock. German open swing wall clock. A large 41 inch walnut case, elaborately carved and decorated headpiece which is original to the clock. There are applied carvings, turnings, top to bottom. There are two windows on each side, the left side swings out to access the pendulum and movement.8 day movement is signed "Deutsches Reiches Patent No.69461", which translates "German Empire Patent". Gong is signed, "DRGMS", which translates, "German Empire Users Trade Sample Protected". The movement has outside count wheel, adjustable pallet deadbeat, heavy coil gong strike. Porcelain dial ring, stamped brass inner dial with angel, vines, and leaves. Brass colored metal pendulum, lyre style, 3 silver rods, 2 brass. Design is a of a lady swinging, butterflies and flowers. Definitely a cut above the average open swing clock.
