Catalog Description: Chauncey Jerome's Anglo-American style case with New Haven movement. Thousands were exported to England in the 1850's. This one has a New Haven 8 day movement, strikes a nickel bell on the hour, held in the case by mounting blocks, it is running. This has to be the finest clock of this style, I have ever seen, and definitely the best of 2 dozen or more we have had over the years. Case is made of light woods, but walnut principally. Full turned columns, carvings top to bottom along with some unusual case work. Pretty large case at 40 inches high. It was probably refinished some time ago. Typical mirror in the base, crack in the lower right corner. Dial has been repainted. 95% of a backboard label intact, reads, "Jerome & Co's Superior 8 Day Anglo American Clocks for Home-Use & Abroad. No Movement Genuine Unless Stamped with the American Factory's Trade Mark". It then shows the New Haven trademark. Case stamped "127". |
