Catalog Description: "Gilbert Mfg. Co. Winsted, Conn", ca 1868, per the full label. It also says, "Case Patented by George B. Owen, March 31, 1868". Case is made of mahogany veneer, stands 13 1/2 inches high, has gold around the door. The original tablet has lost half of the painted design. Some veneer, about 10%, is loose or missing on the base, certainly repairable. .One day movement with strike, held by mounting blocks. The only mark on the movement is "4 1/2". It has a really great old zinc dial. Ly-Gilbert No.1079. |
