Catalog Description: English double fusee, ebonized Bracket Clock, by "Bourchier, Long Acre, London", ca 1835. That is how the back of the movement is inscribed.Bouchier is listed in "Brittens" as a London clockmaker in 1835. Wood ebonizedcase with ripple molding around top and base, gold gilt highlights on thefront and sides, round gold gilt feet. The case is 18-1/2 inches high. Bronze ornaments with rings on each side, pineapple top ornament. 8 inchpainted wood dial, original hands, bowed glass in a bronze sash. Key locksfront bezel and back door. Back door is glass with wood frame, sides areglass. 8 day double fusee chain movement is running. Heavy brass pendulummarked, "NK". Strikes a large brass bell on top of the movement. Overallthe condition is good, but as with all English wood cased clocks, they sufferedthe dampness, heat, and cold, so you will always find a split in the woodsomewhere, nothing serious. |
