Antique Conant and Sperry Clock Price Type: auction |
|
Catalog Description: Conant and Sperry, 112 Fulton St., N.Y., copied from the inside label. The label also says, "Looking Glasses, Wholesale and Retail". This maker is listed in the NYC, 1841-1843 directories. This is yet another 30 hour OG we received from a long time collector of rare and early clocks. It is obvious he acquired only good cases made by the unusual makers. The wood movement is in good running condition, strikes hours on an iron bell.Old wood dial has been properly restored, looks great. Glasses areputtied; top no doubt original, old mirror in the bottom is questionable. There are 3 unexplainable holes in the backboard where I suspect a bell had been mounted and moved around over the years as the holes got larger. The weights, pendulum, hands, could well be original. 27 inch mahogany veneered case has two shades of veneer, some of the dark edge veneer has been repaired. |
