US Clock and Brass Company

Catalog Description:

United States Clock Co. mantle clock, called a "teardrop" by makers of similar styled clocks. 8 day movement is signed with the company's logo, "US Clock Co.". Little is know about this company but evidently they werein business around 1870 and were operated by Henry Terhune and George Edwards. This movement strikes the hours on a wire gong that is attached to an irongong base, very similar to the early OG clocks. No doubt this rare old clockis very collectable and would be more so if it were not for a couple of faults. The alarm mechanism is missing and this dial may not be original to the clock.Everything else appears correct including the single barrel pendulum, andthe nice old glass that still has most of the designs on it. Walnut caseis 22-1/2 inches high and is very clean. The brass movement is dirty butrunning.
