France Wall

Catalog Description:

French box clock, 8 day movement striking Westminster Chimes on 10 long rods. Made by "Vedette, signed on the movement and dial. All of these French box clocks have strings to pull to forward the strike, both for quarters and on the hours. 7 inch silver dial in like new, as is the oak case, but it was made in the l930's. The French might have made them very plain, but they put several little touches in them, like a key holder, wall levelers, locks to keep the rods from banging together, and other little touches. This light oak case is 29 inches high, and like No. 196 it has a piece of applied carving on top, there is a bowed glass over the dial which is a nice touch, and the very nice lower section with the 5 pieces of beveled and leaded glasses. Clock ran while I set it up for photo.
