Welch Manufacturing Company Ruddygore

Catalog Description:

E. N. Welch Mfg. Co. made a very special clock they called, "Ruddygore", ca 1890. Cased in solid black walnut, a little over 22 inches high, with manyspecial touches to make the clock "Special", as they called it. The excellentold glass is held in the door with original putty. The 8 day movement istime, strike, and alarm. Strikes a wire bell, alarms on a brass bell. Themovement and internal accessories are clean and the clock is running, butthe outside hasn't been touched since the clock was made. There are two fulllabels on the back The only reference to this clock is in Ehrhardt, Book1, Page 163. It would appear they made this clock to be a very nice calendarclock, as advertised in Ehrhardt. No doubt they also made them without acalendar. This is a really nice, very rare, "Special" clock.
