Waterbury Clock Company

Catalog Description:

Waterbury Clock Co. Waterbury, Conn. parlor clock. 8 day, time, strike, alarm, 2 large iron weights, strikes gong, alarms on a bell. Rosewood case is 31-1/2 inches high, 17-1/2 inches wide. The case is almost perfect. There are a couple of corner chips on the back, front is beautiful. Movement mounted on a seaboard, weight cords ascend to top of the case to rollers, and then descend down the sides of the case to the large weights. Thru this configuration they could get 8 days running time in the 31 inch case. Large zinc dial has the original paint that is still very good, top glass with painted corners is also original. Bottom mirror is wavy and old, no evidence of changing glasses.Label is good in the middle, some wear in the weight chutes. I can't findthis exact clock in the Ly or Waterbury catalogs, but it is almost identical to the parlor clock on page 425, Ly-Waterbury. Label and part of the case is identical. He valued the clock at $700 a couple of years ago.
