France Shelf Figural

Catalog Description:

French marble and bronze statue clock. Statue of "Androcles and the Lion". You remember he is the guy that pulled the thorn out of the lions paw, in first century mythology. Green marble base, cut and stacked in layers, and with the large statue is 18 inches high and 18 inches wide. A stamp on the statue says, "Made in France", and "Ferrand". The movement is typical French, round, bell strike, and signed with several things, "France", "Made in France", and several names I can't quite read. Back doors are polished brass, on hinges. Front bezels are holding a rounded and beveled glass, over rounded porcelain dials, both perfect and both signed "France", or "Made inFrance". The aneroid barometer is working, clock is running. Numerals onthe dial are etched and black filled. The barometer is not etched, just blackpaint on the porcelain. This is an extremely heavy clock. Wherever you placeit the first time is where you want it to stay.
