Brewster and Ingraham

Catalog Description:

Brewster and Ingrahams, Bristol, CT. US, ca 1850. This is a bigbig gallery in an oak case, 25 inches in diameter. Movement is a typicalB and I ribbed movement which is their east-west movement for gallery clocks.Running real well. The movement is signed same as line one above. Dial isa large piece of 20 inch glass, reverse painted in gold, then backed withgreen paper. I am not sure I wouldn't back it in some other color, maybeplain old white. You must remove the dial to hang the pendulum. The bezelfits to the case body by fitting a metal post in a slot and turning the bezel, similar to some of the expensive Howard clocks. Large brass hands match perfectlythe dial paint.
