Catalog Description:

Welch, Spring and Co., mantle calendar, "Wagner, B.W. Mantle", ca 1878. The movements look identical to those used in the smaller "Italian" calendar clocks, like No. 232 above. This is a much larger and more desirable case than the Italians. This walnut case is 26 inches high and has a very attractive case style, generally sought by calendar clock collectors. There is a label on the back stating the clock has been restored by George B. Davis, San Antonio, Texas. I suppose if he can afford his own fancy label he must do very nice work. I can vouch for the fact he does nice work. Other than polishing the case, having the upper dial painted, and cleaning and oiling the upper movement, there was nothing else to restore. There are no new parts; it is all original and running properly. Most of the "B.B.Lewis-Welch, Spring" black label remains over the lower calendar movement. 8 day, striking a coil gong. Ly-Calendar No. 854.
