Antique Elmer O Stennes Clock Price Type: auction |
|
Catalog Description: Elmer Stennes Girandole Banjo. There were a large number of Stennes complete clocks, empty cases, dials, glasses, and other parts for his banjo clocks, sold at the Stennes auction some years ago. This case with glasses, eagle, and tail piece were bought at that auction. It was later bought by Joe Kopcych who bought a Kilborn and Proctor movement, which is often seen in these cases. The movement is signed on an inside plate, "KP". The front of the plate is signed, "J Kopcych", and is also stamped "G", which stands for "Girandole". The bezel is stamped, "C", for what reason I don't know. The glasses were painted by Tom Moberg, the dial painted with the proper, "bee" to the left of 6 o'clock. It may not be proper to call this a Stennes, although it apparently was made with Stennes parts, and the movement is one that Stennes may have used also. If it were properly signed on the bezel byStennes, this clock could be worth over $5, 000. Maybe next time. |
