Catalog Description:

Gustav Becker miniature Keyhole Vienna, 1 weight, Ca 1888. Movement is signed with typical Becker symbols, but the Becker name has been scratched out, no doubt because it went into a country that had German or Becker clocks blacklisted. The other symbol used by Becker, "Medaille D'Or", inside a circle, was not scratched out. Movement serial number is No. 196117. 8 day, time only movement is clean and running. If I hadn't seen it, I wouldn't have believed the clearance in the case for the pendulum to swing. I kid you not; you could not get a hair between the bob and case, on either side, when it is swinging. There is only 9/16 of an inch on each side of the pendulum when it is still..This magnificent two tone keyhole case is 39 inches long, keyhole glass isold, full turned columns, fancy carved headpiece, and black paint highlights the door outline and finials. Movement, porcelain beat scale, oversized 6 inch pendulum bob, and small brass weight, are all clean and shining. Nice 2 piece porcelain dial, with a seconds dial, is signed, but the name would be hard to figure out without a magnifying glass. There is a round side glass on each side of the case to view the movement. Clocks just don't get any nicerthan this rare little Vienna.
