Antique Colonial Manufacturing "Model 1219" Model Clock Price Type: auction |
|
Catalog Description: C.1920, Colonial, MODEL 1219 5-Tube Hall Clock, chiming Westminster quarters on tubular bells, in good original condition. The case is Honduras mahogany with standing octagonal columns on each side, with a gothic style overlay of the front door glass. The movement is a Herschede, serial No. 11023 (Colonial bought their "Domestic" movement complete with tubes, pendulum and weights direct from Frank Herschede in Cincinnati, had them stamped "Colonial"). See Tran Ly's Longcase Clock book, page 68, mov't No. 67, and page 87 for the clock.. After Herschede failed to keep up with their volume requirements, Colonial concentrated more on German imported movements. NOTE the time click spring has failed and will need repairing. We put the click in place with our finger to take the foto (weight cracked the bottom dust board when this happened to the owner). The clock and movement are otherwise complete and sound with no dents in weights nor pendulum; though needing service, it ticks, chimes and strikes. Includes signed "Colonial" crank and large (1.25")diameter deep tone tubes. Height 79 inches |
