W Schonberger

Catalog Description:

C. 2000 Biedermeier Style Inlaid Case of very nice quality, with a period 3-weight Grand Sonnerie movement by W. Schonberger, Wien (signed on dial). The original of this case is pictured in Viennese Timepieces by Fred. Kaltenbock, page 217, figure 482. Note the carved soldiers at the top right and left on the door. The carved floral top, finials and bottom piece are each carved by a master, out of one piece of wood. The quality of the inlay is exceptional; the well made movement of typical Schonberger quality. The original, if offered, would sell for approximately $12,000. Height 54 inches
