Unknown Wall Cuckoo

Catalog Description:

Black Forest Cuckoo-Quail. 3 weights, one for time, second for the quail to sound on the quarter hours, third for the cuckoo bird to give the number of hours, on each hour. This is a very large case, 28 inches high, 20 inches wide. Three highly carved deer, each with glass eyes, a large rack, and a great deal of intricate carving. This is an old case and the brittle points of the antlers have suffered from handling over the years. A couple of points missing, six have been repaired by someone who knew what they were doing. Carvings on the base include 2 guns, a pouch, flask, rabbit, and a bird. Note the wreath around the dial. 30 hour movement is not signed, ca about 1900. It has bone hands, old numerals, old wood birds, and carved walnuts on the ends of the chains. If any repairs have been made to this case they were well camouflaged.
