Skeleton Clock (Shelf) | |
A clock form refined in the late 18th and early 19th century that emphasized the movement as a decorative object in itself. The plates were made as narrow as possible, and cut out, so that the movement could be easily seen. The surfaces were highly finished, and the clock was usually protected by a glass dome. |
