Tape (or Annular) Clock (Shelf) | |
A round or horizontally circular clock with the divisions of time shown on a tape-like dial wrapped around the case. Unlike most clocks, where the hands move around the dial, the "tape" dial usually revolved while a fixed pointer indicated the time. |

Originally refers to a form of very accurate, weight-driven wall clocks produced in Austria during the early 19th century. Imitated by German manufacturers of the mid to late 19th century, and even American factories. The later clocks may have spring driven movements with pendulums that are only for show. |
