Antique American Clocks
Ansonia Clock Co. "Antique Hanging", ca. 1904.  Perhaps Ansonia's most
fabulously decorated large clock, the Antique Hanging is 46 inches tall, this one in cherry with a gorgeous finish.  The
brass is all original and has been professionally refinished; all the pieces are there.  The brass repoussé dial has white
porcelain cartouche numbers; the spiral brass weights are original.  The previous owner tells me the pendulum bob and stick
are reproductions, but I can't tell, as the bob is an exact replica of the original metal bob. The 8-day, time-and-strike movement
is running easily and striking on the hours and half-hours.  This is easily the nicest Antique Hanging I have seen (although
I said that about the one AAC sold last winter for $3550).  $2500-$4500.
