The serial number on the Frieberg-made
movement (42323) dates to around 1870, but the 36-inch case is more of the Jugendstil period (1880-1920).
The movement may be
a replacement or the case altered, or both.
The crest is not original; there does not appear to have been a base and the bottom
of the case has been broken out.
The case is grain-painted inside and one side glass is broken.
The two-part porcelain
dial has some hairlines and the center section is not secure; there is a dent in the pendulum bob.
The signed, time-only movement
runs for a while and then stops.
