Antique American Clocks
Brewster & Ingrahams lever movement shelf clock, ca. 1843-1852.
gem in a consignment of routine clocks, this 11-inch tall rosewood veneered, 30-hour lever movement shelf clock is shown in Ly's
Clocks Vol. 3
on page 94.
Not this model,
If you're like me, that is always a plus.
There are no issues
with the veneer and there is ripple molding around the base.
The glass is not old but the original dial is signed; it is the
only indication that this is a B&I clock, as the movement is not signed and there is no label.
The hands are period but
may not be original, and there is some in-painting of chips on the dial.
The brass bezel opens with a push button on the side.
It is running and keeping time; note the off-kilter mounting of the movement.
There are no comparable sales records; I think
it ought to be worth $250.
We report, you decide.
